Week of June 29th

Hi Squad, we’re well into race season now, and the energy in the club is unreal. Every weekend someone is out there racing, cheering, volunteering, or pushing their limits in training, and that momentum is contagious.

One of the greatest advantages we have as a club is each other. Teammates are the best form of motivation. When you see someone show up on a tough day, nail a breakthrough session, or step up to a new challenge, it reminds all of us what we’re capable of. Training alone builds fitness, but training together builds belief.

So keep showing up, keep supporting each other, and keep feeding off the collective strength of this group. The season is rolling, and we’re just getting started. Let’s make the next stretch our strongest yet.

Weekly Training Feature: Why Brick Workouts Matter More Than Ever

As we move well into race season, it’s a great time to sharpen the skills that make the biggest difference on race day, and one of the most underrated tools in the triathlon toolbox is the humble brick workout.

A recent Triathlete Magazine article highlighted how short, focused bike‑to‑run sessions can deliver huge returns for athletes who are juggling work, family, and training. These workouts don’t need to be long or complicated. In fact, even a 30‑minute lunch‑break brick can help you build the coordination and resilience needed to run well off the bike.

Why does this matter? Because the bike‑to‑run transition is one of the most unique challenges in triathlon. Your legs feel strange, your posture shifts, and your brain needs a moment to recalibrate. Practicing that crossover, even in short bursts, helps you smooth out the awkwardness and settle into your run faster and more confidently.

The best part: these sessions fit perfectly into busy lives. They’re efficient, they’re effective, and they’re a great way to keep momentum rolling during race season without adding stress.

Great White North and Muskoka

Another busy weekend is on deck for the club!

Matt, Makenzie, Rhonnie, Jill, Pawel, Christine, and I are all heading to Stony Plain for GWN. It’s one of my all‑time favourite races, and I haven’t been back since before COVID, so I’m really looking forward to racing that course again.

Shaon is making a trip back to her hometown to take on Muskoka 70.3, which is always a beautiful but tough challenge.

Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. The season is rolling, the energy is high, and it’s awesome seeing so many of you out there chasing goals and supporting each other.
